The famous song “Pack up your troubles” was written and composed by two brothers who were born in St.Asaph at the building now called Barrow Crafts in the High Street. The words were written by George Asaf (a pseudonym, his real name being George Henry Powell) and the music composed by Felix Lloyd Powell. The song was composed in 1914 but it was not until it won a prize and the song was taken up by Francis, Day & Hunter of London that it became popular in 1915. It remained popular during two world wars. (Extract from Country Quest, Oswald Edwards. July 1989)
