Opening of Kent Periscopes new HQ
On Thursday 2nd March 2017 Kent Periscopes invited, in celebration of the opening of the new facilities at the headquarters in St Asaph, the Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure Mr Ken Skates AM along with Dr James Davies MP and Ann Jones AM. After being shown around the new headquarters they all gained a good understanding of the work Kent Periscopes does and the major contribution made to the local economy. Mr Ken Skates was invited to unveil a commemorative plaque and said, “Kent Periscopes has grown to establish itself as a leading expert in its field, not only in domestic markets but also a large number of geographic markets around the World which now consider Kent Periscopes to be their ‘Go-to’ expert for periscope and observational sighting requirements – a fact recognised last year with a Queens Award for International Trade. Having demonstrated your ability to establish, grow and sustain a successful business – and to create a not insignificant number of highly-skilled job opportunities along the way - I must also say that it is particularly pleasing for me to note that – this being a Welsh Government building – today represents a fantastic example of how we, in Government, can help work with and provide direct support to businesses such as yourselves.”
With a turnover last year of £7.7 million, an impressive forward order book and a highly-skilled workforce, they are one of the leading manufacturers of Armoured Fighting Vehicle parts supplying to places as diverse as the UK, Brazil, Canada, Spain, South Africa, Malaysia and Australia.
The management team were very pleased with how the visit went. The ministers were particularly receptive to the desire to develop and train the next generation of skilled workers being grown to become an active part of continuing the economic development of Kent Periscopes and the local area.
