News from St Asaph VP Infants

The autumn term has been a very busy one here at the VP. September saw the children happily returning to school after their summer break and settling in to their new classes and routines really quickly. Our new Nursery children have been fantastic and soon got used to the new routines of school life.
In early October, the children, along with the children from St Asaph Community Playgroup, had a fascinating morning with Ben from Zoolab who brought lots of mini beasts to show them. Lots of the children were keen to hold or stroke the insects, reptiles and animals and were beautifully behaved and caring.
Our photos show Nursery children with Hamilton the hamster and stroking Loki the beautiful North American Corn Snake, while others enjoyed making hats to celebrate the occasion
Years 1 & 2 made hats and learnt songs for their visit to the Jamboree, eld this year at Ysgol Llywellyn in Rhyl. They had a great morning.
There was a lovely joint Harvest Service with Esgob Morgan in the Cathedral just after half term, with the children singing beautifully, and preparations are already underway for our next production in the Cathedral, our Nativity ‘Lights, Camel, Action’, which the children will perform on the 13th December. In the days following, Year 2 will be visiting St Kentigern Hospice and Bryn Derwen Nursing Home to sing songs from the show for the residents.
November 11th saw Mrs Blythin and four Year 2 children attending the Cenotaph to lay our wreath of remembrance. In school we also held a Remembrance Silence at 11am and this was beautifully observed by all the staff and children.
The run up to Christmas is a really exciting time for the children with our visit to Theatr Clwyd in Mold for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 to see the Wok ‘n’ Roll panto Aladdin on the afternoon of 6th December and we have our Christmas Fair, with a visit from Father Christmas, on Friday 9th December from 3pm – 4:30pm.
These, along with Christmas dinner, a Christmas Jumper day and Bedtime Stories session make for a very full programme of events here at the VP.
